Our Mission
Lorena De Oliveira

Hello, my name is Lorena De Oliveira, and this is the story of how my journey began nearly 15 years ago. After years abroad in London and Sydney, I returned to my birth country, Brazil, where I was heartbroken by the countless stray dogs and cats struggling on the streets. I began feeding as many as possible, but I soon realised that food alone wasn’t enough to change their lives. Determined to make a lasting impact, I partnered with a local private clinic to start a spay and neuter programme in my neighbourhood, which gradually expanded further afield.

Over the past 14 years, I have successfully sterilised over 5,000 animals and rescued more than a thousand. Some found loving homes, while others remain at my sanctuary, a space specially built to care for special needs dogs and cats. While I also shelter healthy animals, my main mission is to provide a safe haven for those who cannot survive on the streets.

Despite my dedication, I face many challenges, particularly from local politicians who overlook the urgent need for animal welfare support. Nevertheless, I continue to rally my community, sharing my story to inspire and educate people on animal welfare, compassion, and sterilisation.

I invite you to join this mission by donating or sponsoring a dog or cat in need. Even small contributions make a significant difference. Our spay and neuter programme is ongoing, and the more help we receive, the closer we get to eradicating the suffering of street animals in Caldas Novas. You can also adopt and change a life!
Luciana Pimenta
Hello, my name is Luciana, and my journey in animal rescue and welfare began many years ago. Since childhood, I have felt a deep connection with animals and nature, which led me to become vegan and dedicate my life to protecting and advocating for those who have no voice.
Heartbroken by the suffering of countless stray dogs and cats, I started taking action—providing shelter, medical care, and, most importantly, spaying and neutering to prevent more animals from being born into hardship. Over the years, I have personally helped many dogs and cats, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve.
In partnership with friends who share the same passion, I co-founded Caudas Felizes, a non-profit organisation focused on sterilisation campaigns as the most effective way to reduce the overpopulation of stray animals. While our primary mission is spaying and neutering, we also step in to help in emergency cases whenever possible.
Despite the challenges, I remain committed to this cause, educating people about the importance of sterilisation, responsible adoption, and animal welfare. Our work is ongoing, and every bit of support brings us closer to reducing the suffering of street animals.
I invite you to be part of this mission. Whether through donations, sponsoring a dog or cat in need, or simply spreading awareness, your help makes a real difference. Together, we can change the lives of so many animals in need
